Plaster

Definition

Ceiling consisting of lath and plaster applied over ceiling joists. Through the 1930s, wood lath was common. From 1940 to 1960 the typical lath was button board, a gypsum board with thin paper and holes. After 1960, a thin gypsumboard with thin wall plaster is common.  Plaster is typically found in older and high-value residences.
